Testing out this newer java version. Mostly because I have friends who are Mac only.
With the advent of Mac OSX, however, it could be that OpenRPG might actually work on the Mac, but over all, I would still be interested in helping test a Java version.

Glad to have you aboard. Have you tried Java Web Start yet? It's available for OS 10.1, IIRC, and that is by *far* the simplest means of getting jOpenRPG up and running on a Mac.
If not, I suggest checking out the forums at http://jopenrpg.sourceforge.net/ . They're not the same as the forums here ( temporary insanity on my part ). There is one rather lengthy thread that centers on running jOpenRPG on Macintosh machines.

I tried the Java Web Start file. Window drawing was horrid (iMac DV SE 500, 512MB RAM, six other apps running - only Mozilla using java at time, MacOS X 10.2.2; java2 1.4)
Model dialogs refused to draw text.
Moving windows left gost frame segments along path and refused to redraw.
Windows refused to resize.
Couldn't find a way to tile windows properly.
Unable to find servers, let alone connect to them (this could be my proxy causing. running privoxy on localhost).
BUT! I managed to get wxPython working. Unfortunately, I get some sort of error with wxWindows when I try to load python ver of OpenRPG. Reinstall of wxWin did not fix this error. :(

Which java web start link did you click on? The developer's version of the program is, obviously, the most current. It is also likely to be the only one that will work anymore, due to a number of changed in OpenRPG itself.
Regretfully, I have not been able to update the jOpenRPG homepage in more than a month, and the link issue *really* needs to be taken care of.
There are 2 or 3 Tile commands in the Window menu of the developer's version. If you are using that release, and don't see those menu items, then something fairly serious is going wrong internally.
