Hi, joe 2.9.8 used the capability of most of the terminals (xterm, gnome-terminal etc... but not the linux console) that they are able to switch to an alternate screen and then back to the old one. So when exiting joe, the previous contents of the terminal were restored. I don't know what this feature is called officially, but I hope you see what I mean. Gnome-terminal even reflects this state in the scrollbar: it is full-sized and hence not usable when the terminal is in this 'second screen' mode. mc, pine, w3m ... also switch to this mode. Current joe doesn't use this terminal mode, and hence always clears the screen when exiting. Is this change intentional? If yes, then what's the reason? I haven't found it in the ChangeLog. As usually, I'm curious because I preferred the old behavior :-) -- Egmont |
