I'm using joe version 3.7, and I like it a lot.

However, for the purposes of word-wrapping and paragraph reformatting, joe thinks that a "-" or "*" (dash or star) at the beginning of a line is a quote character. (This is for quoting email messages.)

I do not believe those characters are used often for email quoting *and* it is more common to use dash and star at the beginning of a line to start a bullet item. This is especially true of structured text (e.g. in Wikis) and ReStructuredText (reST, in Docutils, http://docutils.sourceforge.net/\).

There is already code in Joe to handle this correctly, but it is commented out.

I've attached a patch file for uformat.c that puts the commented out lines back in.

Please consider applying this patch.

Thank you.

    • and - are now again treated as bullets with [a802c4] unless they are in the cpara list (and I've removed * and - from the default cpara list).
