This new version has:
- cut & paste functionality.
- can selectively sum images with or without phase. This is in the settings.
- you can query a lens to determine it's focal length according to the lensmaker's equation
- you can export a CSV of all optical materials. This is really just for testing.
- there's some limited help now. It just links to the jOcular wiki
- there are simple apertures now (pin holes)
- two material interfaces really close together < 1pm are considered to be touching now
I've just uploaded a new screenshot of the interference pattern of two coherent light sources. This is not a particularly real situation but it's a test of the correct computation of the phase of photons. I've had to fix the polarization of light sources rather than using random polariziation, which is what it was prior to today. The problem is that if my light source is not polarized then the phase spends half the time 180 degrees apart so it mostly all cancels.... read more
I figured after posting version 023 that I should start a blog up.
This latest version is getting close to being almost useful. We can now add lenses, light sources - including images - and compute the appearance on a virtual screen (imager).
Check out the updated screenshots. The spectrum produced by a triangular prism is pretty cool looking and the projected image of a test image got me pretty excited anyway.... read more
