This seems to be a known problem in gocr 0.40 and is fixed in 0.41
A workaround is:
- install netpbm9
- compile gocr 0.40
- install netpbm10
- install gocr
- run gocr to see what files it is missing (with .9 in the end or 
something like that) and make a symlink to the current version

Works perfectly
