#18 "no PNM (P1..P6)" error with learning

I am running gocr-0.44 on W2k with learning.

E:\temp\gocr.exe -m 130 text.pnm

When db folder is empty, it asks for unknown characters and creates files in E:\temp\db folder. But when folder is not empty (the same command with the same file is run again) it returns error:
ERROR C:\ccode\mysource\gocr\gocr-0.44\src\pnm.c L295: no PNM (P1..P6).
The file to recognize and the database folder are included.

I have the same problem on WinXP. The same database does work with version 0.40.
