You are confusing Jgroup (our project, academic research) with Jgroups (a "commercial" product). For the name confusion: it's not our fault. We got the name first (in 1998, if i remember correctly) while Jgroups was called Javagroups. Then they got a "cease and desist" from sun about using Java, and they changed in Jgroups. They even asked us to change our name, but we refused. Nobody trademarked them, so here we are.
