Java LUGNET Streaming News Client / News: Recent posts

I have uploaded v0.2 Beta to the File Releases are. Sorry, no CVS yet (WinCVS is having conceptual differences with my firewall). Again, full source is in the ZIP, while the JAR is just a JAR. You'll most likely need an updated preferences file; there's an example in the ZIP.

Features:

Pure Java, Swing GUI.

Ready-to-use client engine (very loosely based upon the Java 1.1 even model for whatever UI you want to give it.

LUGNET-style Skip Filter.

Assumptions:

Developed and tested on Win32. News from any platform combo is welcome.

JDK 1.2.2. JAVA.EXE is in the PATH. Environment variable JAVA_HOME is properly set.

NETSCAPE.EXE (or /usr/local/bin/netscape or whatever) is in your PATH. Netscape is only used to reply to messages, and will not be relied upon in the future.... read more
