I've been asked to loook at it. The standard supplied repotrs are fairly basic in scope (essentialy lists). I am wondering if anyone has done anything more complex and whether they have moved to using Jett instead of SSRS/rdl reports?
And also, is there a "development environment" for developing and testing the reports, or can you only create/update the excel template, upload to Kronos and then run it in the Kronos application and see what happens?

There is no development environment, that would be 'excel' I guess? Testing the reports can be done using the FAP protected upload template feature that is available right in the report selection UI (this injects your in development template only for the current report execution and only you can see the results)
If you look carefully you will notice that some of the Location Schedule X reports have some more advanced features in there which use conditional formatting and data based on input options.
