The move to Java was one of convenience. However, as of
Sept 03, we are addressing this issue and will be releasing a
bnf-based parser that will perform syntax checking without
the excessive Java compiling.
As you are aware this is a major undertaking because of the
strong dependency on the Java semantics/compiler.
