I ask because I have seem this very same problem on my machine, which is running win98 + sun jdk 1.2.2-001, or win98 + swing1.1.1fcs + ibm-jdk-1.1.8. In fact, jEdit hadn't hung, it was just taking an eternity to get around to displaying the Global Options dialog. After leaving the machine for about 10-15 mins the dialog did actually appear. On closer examination it seems that this delay was caused by jEdit trying to write out a load of config files that hadn't existed previously. Once you have let it do this, the dialogue pops up without much of a delay. I'm not sure if this is a jit problem or not, I haven't had time to track it down yet, but it does seem strange that the problem only manifests itself with java2 jdks.. Todd |
