Category: text area and syntax packages Group: normal bug >Status: Pending Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Roblovski (roblovski) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: tall caret ignores insert/overwrite setting Initial Comment: Using jEdit 4.2 final Instructions: Open or create a multi-line file Ctrl+drag to create a tall caret Press INS to toggle insert mode off Type some text What should happen: The typed text should overwrite the characters to the right of the caret, as it does when using a regular caret What happens: The typed text is inserted before any following text, as if you never pressed INSERT. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Robert Schwenn (rschwenn) Date: 2007-02-16 23:16 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1486645 Originator: NO Well, CTRL+Drag creates a rectangular selection. And when this selection extends over more than one line with a zero width, I think we must have in mind that it's just a selection - not a tall caret. And in every case, when a selection exists, typing a character or pasting from clipboard replaces the selection. In Your case it replaces nothing. In contrast to a non rectangular selection the rectangular selection is not removed. And so further typing always inserts - independent of the overwrite/insert mode. For me it's a consistent behavior - not a bug. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=1523092&group_id=588 |
