#3673 OS-X Lion I-beam barely visible in editor window

I am not sure if this is a jEdit bug, or an OS-X Lion problem. When using a dark background the I-beam in the editor window is barely visible. The I-beam should be inverted in color to the background similar to how the caret is handled. Attached is a screen capture illustrating the problem.

Version info:
jEdit 4.5 server-background mode
OS-X 10.7.3
Apple Inc. Java 1.6.0_29

Steps to reproduce:
Set dark background color in Preferences ->jEdit -> Text Area ->Background Color
Start typing in editor window (cursor disappears)
Move mouse (I-beam appears, but is barely visible)

When the I-beam appears it should be inverted in color to the background, similar to the caret.

This is an OSX problem; I've seen similar complaints in a number of different applications. It can be fixed by setting a custom cursor (like Terminal does), but that can be done only from native code, which has thus far been avoided in the jEdit core and the MacOSX plugin. Conceivably, someone could write a plugin that uses Objective-C and JNI to do things like this using the native interface, but there would have to be some other new features to make it worthwhile.
