Hi Sam! I think it's fair to say that project is not
currently active. As far as I know, it is just due to
lack of time (as is common with open source projects),
although I think there is lots of interest for the
library itself.

From my perspective, the project is close to feature complete, which explains the low level of activity.  The main aims of JDBM is to be simple and lightweight (both in usage and in implementation), and I think we've pretty much done that.  Of course, there's a few additional things that we could add to the library without increasing complexity and code bloat but we've essentially covered the 80%+ of common use-cases.

In order words, we're not out to create a BerkeleyDB clone.
