I am new to JDBM , my understanding is that JDBM is a cache store backed by the file and there will be only pointers to the object in the heap , but  the actual object itself will not be in the heap.

I wrote a small program to add 500 objects to cache and commit. after this there is a while(true) loop which calls system.gc() every 2 min .

i took several heapdump with intervals of 5 - 10 min each .. in all the heapdump i see the 500 objects in memory and their reference are held by jdbm.htree.HashBucket

do i miss a configuration here ? can someone help . Thanks
