Perfect, to make easier and understandable for the End-User I would favour the Apache 2 license. +1 for the Apache 2 license Ketan, what do you think? Is it ok for you too? Hello again, I changed the Sourceforge categorizations to make clear that the JCR Browser is Apache2 licensed. Thanks for the hint Ketan! Hi Ketan, you are right at the sourceforge page there is no license associated. It has been resetted some time ago. In general the JCR Browser is Apache 2 license. When you download it, you will find a LICENSE.txt file at the top level of the folder and every source file that comes with the download bundle starts with the Apache2 license header. It even went through the Eclipse due dilligence intellectual property process without problems as Eclipse Corona uses the JCR Browser too. Apache2 license has not a copyleft as the EPL has. This is why I think it fits quite good. Is this ok for you? Best regards, Sandro Ketan Padegaonkar schrieb: > Hi Sandro, > > I've been wondering with this licensing issue for a while now. Ok, as Sourceforge blocks zip files: The license the I would like to attach to the release looks like this: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/in/legalcode Bye, Sandro -- https://www.xing.com/profile/Sandro_Boehme http://www.linkedin.com/in/sandroboehme http://www.wingsuit.de Sandro Böhme schrieb: > Hello again, > > this is a generated snipped that applies the conditions below. > > <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/in/"> > <img alt="Creative Commons License" style="border-width:0" > src="http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-sa/2.5/in/88x31.png" /> > </a> > <br />This ${work_type} is licensed under a <a rel="license" > href="$">Creative Commons-License</a> licensed. > > > Attached there is also the complete license as I would attache it to the > release. > Please just tell if I can use it this way. > > Bye, > > Sandro > > Sandro Böhme schrieb: >> <div class="moz-text-flowed" style="font-family: -moz-fixed">Hello >> Rishikesh, >> >> thanks again for the splash screen. Hi, As a request from a good friend Ketan, I have created a splash screen for the JCR browser, and I am submitting the same. It would be under liscenced under Creative Commons. <link> http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/5829/jcrbrowserbl4.png </link> Regards, Rishikesh Parkhe |

I'd love to contribute back by maintaining the RCP application. There's some good news at my end. Most issues that you'd mentioned in a previous conversation have been sorted out. The legal team in ThoughtWorks does not seem to have any issues with opensourcing this plugin under Apache 2 Licence. We'd definitely want to maintain the package and plugin names to com.thoughtworks, as I do not mind maintaining the application :) --=20 Ketan Padegaonkar I blog... It's just to display the data from as many JCR implementations and deployment models as possible and to navigate through them. This means the only thing I expect is to maintain and support the RCP aspects of the JCR Browser (which you seem to handle quite well). If that's ok for you I would be glad if I can give you write access to the RCP CVS module of the project and welcome you to the JCR Browser project. Hello Ketan, thank you very much for the contribution of the RCP capabilities! It will add a big benefit to the JCR Browser project. I remember at least one guy who activly asked for this feature. In order to commit and release it I would first like to discuss some things: o Are really all plug-ins listed in the JCRBrowser.product file needed? o Can I simply rename the *.java0000644 files to usual Java files or is there a special reason why they use this naming pattern? o I have no problem with keeping the package name to "com.thoughtworks.jcrbrowser.rcp". I would just prefer to use "org.visualcontent.rcp" if I maintain this module in long term. Please tell me in case you have any interest in maintaining this module and what you think about the package name. o To ensure the users know what license is used please add the Apache2 license headers (or a compatible license) to the source files and the license file to the plug-in root folder. I think it would look like hijacking of this plug-in if I would do that ;-). Thanks. o And finally can I do something for you? Like adding a link to your blog or networking tool to the release info containing that feature? It will be published at the Sourceforge project page and in the Jackrabbit mailing list. Hello Thierry, thanks for digging into the details and providing the community with the bug fix! I will check it and release it with the next release. I followed the instructions given in the ReadMeFirst file. I copied the contents of the plugin folder into my Eclipse folder, and restarted Eclipse. The JCR Browser plugin hadn't loaded. There was no perspective nor was it present under Windows -> Preferences. I tried the Browser version 0.9.0 and 0.9.1 with both Eclipse 3.1 and 3.2. None of the combinations worked. Is there any step I am missing? Thanks, Sridhar |

Hi Alex, thanks for the detailed request (BTW What you could not know: I'm from Southern Germany so I can read german :-) ). You are right, Eclipse should be able to find the class from the jackrabbit-core-1.0.jar. Can you please reinstall the JCRBrowser? You can just o delete all org.visualcontent.* folders in the plugins folder of your Eclipse installtion o restart Eclipse with the "-clean" option to reset the metadata cache of Eclipse o and put the plugins again in the plugin folder? The JCRBrowser uses Jackrabbit 1.0 but I think this should not prevent the classloader to load a usual class. If there are any problems with that I would expect them at runtime when a JR 1.0.1 repository is loaded in JR 1.0. Quite wired problem maybe the reinstallation already helps. If not, we should try to load a JR 1.0 repository to rule out the possibility that it has something to do with the repository data. I guess accessing the repository by RMI is not really an option for you? Hi, I have a problem connecting to my local Jackrabbit repository (Jackrabbit 1.0.1) in the JCR browser: The following error message pops up (and gets its way into the eclipse log): (The german LoginException message translates into: Cannot find the following login module class) !ENTRY org.visualcontent.authentication.simplecredentials 4 0 2006-09-05 01:16:12.01 !MESSAGE It was not possible to login. Hello Sjoerd Adema, thanks for the flowers. An Eclipse plugin is not designed to have an configurable classpath after it's released. But I think it would be a useful addition to the plugin to be able to add JAAS-classes. If you want, you can add a feature request at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=793418&group_id=154841&func=browse Example code would already help developing it. But as I'm also involved in other projects at the moment I will probably not be able to implement the new feature in the next weeks. I'm sorry for that. If it's urgent - please let me know. I will try to create a patch exclusively for you. Bye, Sandro Sjoerd Adema wrote: >Hi all, > >I´m trying to get the jcrbrowser working. Hi all, I=C2=B4m trying to get the jcrbrowser working. The point is, that jcrbrow= ser can find the config.jaas configuration file, but not the defined class within it. (go.toolkit.jaas.ToolkitJNDILoginModule) Because jcrbrowser is a eclipseplugin instead of a eclipse project, I don=C2=B4t know where to edit the classpath. Do you have some pointers ? Thanks in advance. PS.: I think it=C2=B4s great to see all the workspaces, nodes and propert= ies in a browser. Great project !! Hello Andre, thanks for the information. I will try to include postgresql support in the next major version of the JCRBrowser. > In my application I use Spring as a session factory in a very standard > configuration that just points to my repository.xml file, I don't think > that > could be relevant since VCBrowser runs outside my application but I can > send > it to you if you want. Yes, I'm definetly interested. Looking forward to it. Thanks.
