Hi, I've my configuration properties stored in a database via JDBCHandler. I'm looking for a way to update only 1 single property in my configuration. Looking at the public API, I only see the "store" method which will save the whole properties. Exploring further, there's a "storeProperty" method which will just update a property but it's defined as private. As such, what's the proper way to update only a property with jconfig. Please advise. Thanks. Regards. |

Hello,
My team and I have recently started using jConfig (great tool BTW !) and we came across 2 little bugs, one in the Wiki and one in the jConfig code itself.
So here is the tiny patch for the URLHandler, which allows it to work properly :
--- URLHandler.java 2011-08-10 08:52:42.065667726 +0200
+++ URLHandler_fix.java 2011-08-10 08:57:56.735667759 +0200

ConfigurationParser parser = ConfigurationParserFactory.getParser(configName);
- return load(getURL(), configName,parser);
+ return load(theURL, configName,parser);
}
protected Configuration load(String theURL,String configName,ConfigurationParser parser) throws ConfigurationManagerException {
Concerning the documentation, it's written that the Config Server needs to be configured by mean of jconfig.properties whereas I believe (at least, that's the only thing I saw in the code) that you need to configure by supplying the right arguments at launch time (i.e. -port and -docroot ). I therefore believe that it could be useful to change that as well.
Please let me know if I'm wrong.
Best regards,
Stefano

Hi: I have read the document in the jconfig web site, however I want to make sure the Configuration issues. Does the configuration file must be named with config.xml ,and the structure of the xml should according with the example in the web site? Is there a schema? |

In DefaultCategory.java
line 196 to 200
The primary method is like this:
public Properties getProperties() {
return properties;
}
it do not replace the part of property value like ${*} with the var defined
in the configuration.
I think it is a bug, is not it?
Thank you

Hello there I would greatly appreciate a small amount of your time to assist with my doctoral research at The University of Newcastle. The research concerns open source licensing and we're seeking developers working on Java projects. The research is supervised, ethics-approved, anonymous and results will be freely available. Participation will also provide a custom licensing report for your project. To learn more, please visit: http://licensing-research.newcastle.edu.au Thanks for reading this email, and I hope you'll consider participating. Best regards Ben Alex (My apologies for being off-topic; this list will not be emailed again) |

[Apologies for the off-topic message; no further emails will be sent] You are invited to participate in an academic research project that I am conducting into open source component licensing. The research is part of my Doctorate of Business Administration degree at the University of Newcastle, Australia, and is being supervised by Dr Len Whitehouse. The research is entirely non-commercial, and full results will be made freely available to any person who is interested. It is hoped that the research will offer useful information about how component licensing is approached in practice. We are looking for Java software developers who are working on either commercial or open source projects. Participation in the research is entirely voluntary, and privacy has been carefully addressed to ensure that participants cannot be identified. The research has received an ethics clearance from the university. Participation will usually take less than 30 minutes. If you participate, you may optionally view a licensing compliance assessment report for your project. This may be of general interest or assist in planning licensing compliance strategies. If you are interested in learning more about the research, please visit http://research.acegitech.com. At that location you will find the Research Information Sheet that fully explains the research and provides you with details on how to participate or ask further questions. Please note that data collection is scheduled to end on 4 June 2007. Thank you for taking the time to read this email, and I hope that you will consider participating. Kind regards Ben Alex |

I am using jConfig for a school project and was just wondering why there is no way to remove a PropertyListener from a configuration. I've made the change locally using the jConfig-src, but I would suggest having that part of the release. Currently most of our configuration located in context.xml file, and in case if we need to update some particular parameter we use tomcat administration page. Hi Alberto, there was a gap between the documentation and the implementation. However it was actually never implemented the way it is described. I have fixed the bug and now it is working. We were running an old version of jconfig, so I updated to the latest 2.9 version and encountered problems. So I walked the chain up to the latest version, and found that 2.8.5 works for us, but we have problems with 2.9. Is there an easy way to tell what changed between the two versions? I didn't see an obvious CVS tag that indicated what went into which version. Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! We are using jconfig to configure our aplication (thanks guys for great tool), which is standalone java application (does not need/use servlet container). With introduction of JMX remote connection support, I would like to enable JMX client access to some categories in the configuration. I looked at the documentation and the demo, but have hard time to figure it out how to enable MBean access to the configuration. There is some note in the documentation (below), but I am not sure how and where to use it, should it be included in your config file? Thanks, Lubos <?xml version=3D"1.0" encoding=3D"UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE server> <server> <classpath codebase=3D"lib" archives=3D"jconfig.jar"/> <mbean code=3D"org.jconfig.jmx.ConfigurationManagerDynamicMBean" name=3D"user:configuration=3DDynamicConfiguration"> </mbean> </server> |

I read what I wrote And for those of you who think English isn't my
mother tongue...
What I tried to say is,
I want to see how you fixed this. Therefore I'm looking for a TestCase
that I can run against the current version of jConfig. If the TestCase
fails, then I know the TestCase is probably okay. I will then take your
fix/patch and run the TestCase again. If I find things are green after
applying the fix, I'll look at the implementation and check it all into
the repository.
Much better. I think the first coffee still needs to kick in. What I
wrote earlier was just awful.
Apologies.
