JCivED 0.0.18a released: map terrain select/copy/paste

A small release increment for JCivED, now at version 0.0.18a, which brings a new feature for map edition: select/copy/cut/paste as shown below:

JCivED 0.0.17a released! Yes, it's still alive!!

Hi everyone,

Nearly one year since the last formal release - I know it's a long time, and hopes can dwindle, but rest assured that there is still activity going on, as slow as it may be.

So here it is, the release of JCivED v0.0.17a.

This release contains everything that happened since last June (2014), which essentially consists in a bunch of CIV.EXE patches, including some proof of concepts (tech "Writing" giving SETI effect, City Walls protected from sabotage, ...), usability hacks (faster fade-in/out, skip credits, skip quizes, etc.) and much anticipated default game settings change and customize EARTH starting positions.... read more

JCivED 0.0.16a released! (bugfix)

This version contains several fixes to bugs recently identified by hannurabi, in addition to some undesired UI issues I fixed on the fly.

JCivED 0.0.15a released! (bugfix)

Hi everyone,

A quick message to notify of the release of JCivED v0.0.15a!

This version contains nothing more than a bugfix: for some layers (land values, map ownership, ...) manual edition would not show visually in the editor although the changes were made to the map data.

This is now fixed.

Thanks to hannurabi for reporting the issue!

Note that this is definitely the shortest lapse between 2 releases of JCivED :) I want to mention that some time was spent writing scripts and templates so that releasing a JCivED package would require minimal human intervention, and so this should make it possible to have more frequent releases from now on, for smaller features of bug fixes.... read more

JCivED 0.0.14a released!

A quick message to notify of the release of JCivED v0.0.14a!

This is not a major release, it merely extends the "map import" feature, to support arbitrary picture files (see this post), and most notably the plain text format devised by Gowron (see this thread). Obviously, it still supports the native Earth map format (MAP.PIC).... read more

JCivED 0.0.13a released

Hi everyone,

It's been the longest gap between 2 version releases, but finally I am glad to announce the release of JCivED 0.0.13a.

The most prominent update in this version is related to the Map edition enhanced capabilities, to finally create cities and units very easily, among other things.

Another big update is related to dynamic patch configuration UI to get user input. This makes it possible to implement new user-configurable patches, such as the Custom Civ Colors patch, or Custom Earth Map patch.... read more

JCivED 0.0.12a released!

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to announce the release of JCivED 0.0.12a

This release mainly contains the new CIV.EXE patching functionality, as well as basic PIC color Palette edition, and a new MAP view switch "Player/Absolute" to avoid revealing unknown information.

JCivED 0.0.11a released!

Hello everyone,

I am glad to announce the release of JCivED 0.0.11a!

This one makes a great leap forward, finally providing the feature that was crucially missing for creating playable scenarii, that is land value generation... This makes is possible for AI players for properly using custom-designed terrain to build cities.

JCivED 0.0.10a is here!

Hi everyone,

A quick post to mention that JCivED 0.0.10a is released.

What's changed from v0.0.9a:
- the biggest difference is the possibility to edit Civ FONTS.CV
- also, all the latest discoveries in SVE file format are integrated (including the long awaited City Names, that wasn't available so far, for some reason...)
- on a side note, the support for PIC image files has been fixed so that it also properly supports files from Darklands, most notably... read more

JCivED 0.0.9a is here, for REAL

For some reason, the previous upload of JCivED-0.0.9a.zip failed, and the download was a corrupt 14kb file...

So this is just a heads-up to notify that this file has been updated.

JCivED 0.0.9a is here !

First post to talk about the release of JCivED 0.0.9a, which adds the features below to the previous version:

  • SVE data support for spaceship, palace, lost units, diplomacy, city status, wonders ...
  • MAP edition support for all layers (geography, improvements, land value, minimap, ...)
  • Zoom-support when editing maps
  • Minimap navigation support
  • Native Civ fonts (FONTS.CV) support for improved MAP rendering
  • Improved unit rendering on MAP (unit status, multi-unit stacks, action letter, etc.)
  • Fixed MAP rendering missing railroads in cities
  • Savegame window icon as the leader portrait (very tiny, though...)... read more
