Hi all, For those interested in participating in, or monitoring the progress of, the requirements and design for the XML service configuration XML format and associated loaders and contexts, checkout: v1/basic/doc/designs/xml-service-configuration-v0.1-design.txt and v1/basic/doc/requirements/xml-service-configuration-v0.1-requirements.txt in the CVS tree. They are "draft 1 in progress" so expect some informality ... I guess we need some sort of overall architecture sketch. Well there's one in my head, but I need time to get it down in writing ... Other news: I will be changing over to LGPL licensing (as discussed on Friday) this weekend unless there are any objections. I would like to welcome Gita Dewara to the team. Gita is a graduate programmer at Queensland Health where I'm working at the moment. Please give him any assistance you can to get him up to speed with our project and programming techniques. Thats all for now. Cheers, Sam. ===== Sam Stainsby http://www.sold.com.au - SOLD.com.au - Find yourself a bargain! |

Guys, JChassis core v0.1 has been completed - designed, implemented and unit tested. The requirements and design were updated to draft 2 in the process. See: http://jchassis.sourceforge.net/v1/core/doc/requirements/core-v0.1-requirements.txt and http://jchassis.sourceforge.net/v1/core/doc/designs/core-v0.1-design.txt The status page has been updated as well: http://jchassis.sourceforge.net/status.html There is a "run.utests" target in the build.xml file in the module v1/core that will build everything and run the unit tests. To use the "build" script to run this, you will need to check out the "build" module as well and customise the "build_env" file therein. The next step in the project will be to use the core to support a "bootstrap" service context that provides some "bootstrap" services: simple logging, service metadata (data about services: version, author, etc), more complex service configuration, version/dependency management, command line parsing... Cheers, Sam. ===== Sam Stainsby http://www.sold.com.au - The Sold.com.au Big Brand Sale - New PCs, notebooks, digital cameras, phones and more ... Sale ends June 12 |

Hi guys, First cut of the JChassis core code has been completed. Unit tests are pending. To build the you will need to check out the top-level modules "build" and "v1". You will also need to edit the "build_env" file in the "build" directory to suit your environment. If you are still worried about the licensing, please discuss it with me on the jchassis-devel mailing list. I'm still not certain on how the final release will be licensed. Note that if you add or significantly change any files (after discussing it with me of course!), be sure to modify the copyrights to reflect your efforts (ie. add your names). I am moving the core specification docs (currently the v 0.1 requirements and design) to "v1/docs", so expect the next drafts to be there. The design has changed only slightly during implementation so get the latest version from the new area. I will remove the old versions soon. On a separate note, the CVS settings you need to access CVS over SSH can be found in the "env" module as the file "jchassis_cvs_env". Edit this to suit you and then source it. You can get the script over the web CVS interface initially. ===== Sam Stainsby http://www.sold.com.au - The Sold.com.au Big Brand Sale - New PCs, notebooks, digital cameras, phones and more ... Hi Guys, I've added some developer information context to the web site. See http://jchassis.sourceforge.net/new_developers.html. Also, there is a status page now: http://jchassis.sourceforge.net/status.html The text-to-HTML conversion isn't working very well yet. Apologies for any conversion anomolies. I looking at using Lyx to write everything docbook format, and then convert to HTML, but it isn't really that straightforward. After this weekend, I will be posting only to the jchassis-devel mailing list, so please add yourself to the project lists if you haven't already. I won't be CCing directly to you after this weekend. Cheers, Sam. ===== Sam Stainsby http://briefcase.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo! Briefcase - Save your important files online for easy access! |
