i will look at this tonight. If you want to look at it all the code is in PieChart2D to do the other labelling so cutting and pasting for the single item should not be very hard. If i check it into CVS, will you be able to check it out and build from the ant script? --- Pal Perinbam <pal...@ya...> wrote: > Middle will look good, but it might be a bit odd 'cos the labels always appear outside in other > cases. Middle will look good, but it might be a bit odd 'cos the labels always appear outside in other cases. I think top of the chart will maintain the uniformity. what do you think? "Nathaniel G. I am not sure what you want? If you set round to nearest 10 to the -2, you will get two decimal places. When using percent signs, remember you multiply the values by 100, so a value of .156 on your axis is displayed as a percent is: 16.00%, as first the value is rounded to .16, then converted to a percent. Alls that code is doing is if you are rounding to a power greater than or equal to 10 ^ 0, we do not show decimal places as they will always be zeroes. --- Vikram Rajan <vr...@st...> wrote: > If I use the dataAxisProperties.setUsePercentSigns() to set the percent signs on the data axis, > I always get the format of the labels as 10.00%, 20.00%, which is not really what the developer > would want in normal cases. Did you look at what the call to: "imageMapArea.toHTML( html.toString() )" does? If I use the dataAxisProperties.setUsePercentSigns() to set the percent = signs on the data axis, I always get the format of the labels as 10.00%, = 20.00%, which is not really what the developer would want in normal = cases. I am using a user-defined scale here. A snapshot of the code ... DataAxisProperties dataAxisProperties =3D (DataAxisProperties) = axisProperties.getYAxisProperties(); dataAxisProperties.setUsePercentSigns(true); dataAxisProperties.setNumItems(20); dataAxisProperties.setUserDefinedScale(0, 0.1); dataAxisProperties.setRoundToNearest( -2 ); I looked into the code for the NumericTagGroup and found the lines that = were causing it (lines 118 to 129). Reproduced the code below. //---TRIM OFF DECIMAL PLACES IF ROUND TO WHOLE NUMBER if( roundingPowerOfTen >=3D 0 ) { numberFormat.setMaximumFractionDigits( 0 ); numberFormat.setMinimumFractionDigits( 0 ); } else { numberFormat.setMaximumFractionDigits( -roundingPowerOfTen ); numberFormat.setMinimumFractionDigits( -roundingPowerOfTen ); } What I suggest is that we change the minimum fraction digits to be zero = when the rounding power of ten is less than zero. This will ensure that = if the computed increment is a whole number, the data axis labels will = not be displayed as fractions. Nathan, what do you think? - Vikram Rajan |

cool. I will add a task to make the flag on the ChartProperties Object. a task has been added. I am not sure when it is going to get done. I don't believe it would be very difficult to implement but we are not ready to do a release on the 1.0 trunk. perhaps in a month or so? I looked through the image map sample bundled with the download. It seems that the following code: <% StringBuffer html=3D new StringBuffer( 100 ); ImageMap imageMap=3D (ImageMap) request.getAttribute( = ChartServlet.IMAGE_MAP ); Iterator iterator=3D imageMap.getIterator(); while( iterator.hasNext() ) { ImageMapArea imageMapArea=3D (ImageMapArea) iterator.next(); =20 html.append( "href=3D\"javascript:showValues(" ); html.append( imageMapArea.getValue() ); html.append( ",'" ); html.append( imageMapArea.getLengendLabel() ); html.append( "','" ); html.append( imageMapArea.getXAxisLabel() ); html.append( "');\"" ); %> <%=3D imageMapArea.toHTML( html.toString() ) %> <%=20 //---reuse same StringBuffer Object html.delete( 0, html.length() ); }=20 %> produces something like: href=3D"javascript:showValues(1500.0,'Bugs','1995');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(6880.0,'Bugs','1996');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(4510.0,'Bugs','1997');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(2600.0,'Bugs','1998');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(1200.0,'Bugs','1999');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(1580.0,'Bugs','2000');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(8000.0,'Bugs','2001');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(4555.0,'Bugs','2002');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(4000.0,'Bugs','2003');" href=3D"javascript:showValues(6120.0,'Bugs','2004');" But this is not the complete area tag. Is there some method that will = let me get something like: <area shape=3D"rect" coords=3D"20,20,60,60" = href=3D"javascript:showValues(6120.0,'Bugs','2004');"> The methods that would help in generating this seem to be protected or = non-existent. hi, It would be great if we could have ability to format pie value labels as = percentage signs. We already have the feature to display currency signs. Any plan to do this in the near future? thanks, Vikram |

Of course, there are other constructors to use. AxisProperties( boolean isHorizontal ) AxisProperties() and then use getXAxisProperties() and getYAxisProperties() and cast them into the type of properties they are. --- Lee Francis Wilhelmsen <le...@st...> wrote: > Hi > > I'm trying to update some code that worked fine when using the 0.6.0 version > of jCharts. You need to specify at least one DataAxisProperties Object which extends LabelAxisProperties. Whether that is the x or y axis depends if the plot is horizontal. Perhaps there should be multiple constructors to clarify the API? Hi I'm trying to update some code that worked fine when using the 0.6.0 version of jCharts. However, now it doesn't and I'm having difficulty finding out why. The error seems to have something to do with the LabelAxisProperties and AxisProperties classes, but I can't be sure. The code attatched below causes the following error: java.lang.ClassCastException at org.jCharts.chartData.processors.AxisChartDataProcessor.processData(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.axisChart.AxisChart.renderChart(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.Chart.render(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.encoders.BinaryEncoderUtil.render(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.encoders.PNGEncoder.encode(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.demo.swing.TestGraph.doWork(TestGraph.java:89) at org.jCharts.demo.swing.TestGraph.main(TestGraph.java:108) Exception in thread "main" However, it works fine when I remove the axis code [replacing the line "AxisProperties axisProperties = new AxisProperties(xAxis, yAxis)" with "AxisProperties axisProperties = new AxisProperties()"] which is why I suspect the LabelAxisProperties and AxisProperties are causing the trouble. Can anyone see anything in my code that may be causing this trouble? Is this a bug? Appreciate any help you can offer. Take care Regards Lee Francis Here's the code. It creates a png file in the same directory as the class file. I am using Sun's jdk 1.4.1 on Win2000. you set the rounding to the nearest whole number, 10 to the zero'th power. java.util.NumberFormat will round your increment to the nearest whole number, or 100%. Set the rounding to -2 and remove the user defined scale to see a 'good fitting' scale. --- Vikram Rajan <vr...@st...> wrote: > This question is borne of my inability to understand fully the scale calculation algorithm. i dont think there are listeners hooked into the chart for a repaint when the frame size changes. This could certainly be done. The swing demo is a general showing of how to display a chart in a non servlet framework. I will add a task for the next release to include this functionality in the swing demo. If you want to implement it, i believe you should override the repaint method of Frame Object to re-render the chart according to the size of the frame; that is how we will do it. --- Neo Mingus <neo...@ya...> wrote: > I just started playing with jCharts, in one of the > test/demo, the SwingTest class displays a pie chart. > Everything looks good, however, if I resize the frame, > the chart will not display. I just started playing with jCharts, in one of the test/demo, the SwingTest class displays a pie chart. Everything looks good, however, if I resize the frame, the chart will not display. Is this a bug, or it's the limitation of jCharts? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. http://search.yahoo.com |
