Hi Nathaniel, Thanks for your reply! I'm not sure what do you mean by saying "The lists are archived on the Sourceforge page, so you can search them there." When I got in there, I'm unable to see/search any list messages :( All I've got: =================== jcharts-cvs (not yet archived) (go to Subscribe/Unsubscribe/Preferences) Commit messages for jcharts jcharts-developers (not yet archived) (go to Subscribe/Unsubscribe/Preferences) Developers Mailing List jcharts-users (not yet archived) (go to Subscribe/Unsubscribe/Preferences) For users of jCharts =================== Do you know when they supposed to be archived? Is it going to happen within days/weeks/month or years ;) ? Also, can I post questions into those lists without being subscribed there, but as a member of sourceforge.net? regards, Ruslan -----Original Message----- From: nathaniel.auvil Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2003 9:24 PM To: zenin Cc: jcharts-users Subject: Re: Mail List does not work hi Ruslan. There is no code in jcharts for this. However, we just got a code submission on the developers mail list which truncates the labels. Take a look at the developer mail list archive if you are interested in this. I am hoping to get a look at wrapping the axis labels soon... --- ME Adrian <ya_...@ya...> wrote: > Hi, > > I have a question regarding jCharts. Sounds like a JVM bug though I cannot be too sure. Java2D related bugs have been reported before to the jCharts User list. See http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=2414850&forum_id=2571 . I also another bug on Java Bug Parade ... http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4755500.html. Could you give us some sample code and detailed on your Java version, operating system etc. - Vikram -----Original Message----- From: Nathaniel G. hi, I have modified jCharts code to enable truncation of labels so that all labels are displayed. At the same time, the X-axis labels can be image mapped to the complete label text, so if a user does a mouseover on the label, the complete text can be viewed. But my modifications are on the 0.7.2 codebase. Basically, I have disabled the toggling of which labels to display. Nathaniel, What is the best way to reach this code to you? i.e. what amount of documentation etc. do you require, which codebase should the change be made against? Hi, I have encountered a problem while generating a bar chart that has negative values. Every time the largest number in the set is negative, it returns the following exception. sun.dc.pr.PRException: endPath: bad path at sun.dc.pr.Rasterizer.endPath(Unknown Source) at sun.java2d.pipe.DuctusRenderer.createShapeRasterizer(Unknown Source) at sun.java2d.pipe.DuctusShapeRenderer.renderPath(Unknown Source) at sun.java2d.pipe.DuctusShapeRenderer.fill(Unknown Source) at sun.java2d.pipe.ValidatePipe.fill(Unknown Source) at sun.java2d.SunGraphics2D.fill(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.axisChart.BarChart.verticalPlot(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.axisChart.BarChart.render(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.axisChart.AxisChart.overlayCharts(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.axisChart.AxisChart.renderChart(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.Chart.render(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.encoders.BinaryEncoderUtil.render(Unknown Source) at org.jCharts.encoders.JPEGEncoder13.encode(Unknown Source) at chartingEngine.ChartGenerator.exportImage(ChartGenerator.java:55) at chartingEngine.ChartGenerator.createBarChart(ChartGenerator.java:213) at chartingEngine.test.main(test.java:75) Hope that you would be able to help me out. Hi, Thanks for the solution previously! I have another problem again. For the labels on X-axis, if i have a very long label then some labels will actually will not be shown on the axis itself. So, it is possible like the chart title when the label is very long, it will wrap to the next line? Thank You! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? sure. use the PreAxisValueRenderListener interface to implement your own Paint assignment on each Bar. As in the following which Paints each Bar in a different Paint. Set this implementation onto the BarChartProperties Object. public class MultiPaintRenderer implements PreAxisValueRenderListener { /********************************************************************************* * * @param axisValueRenderEvent *********************************************************************************/ public void preRender( AxisValueRenderEvent axisValueRenderEvent ) { axisValueRenderEvent.getGraphics2D().setPaint( TestDataGenerator.getRandomPaint() ); } } --- ME Adrian <ya_...@ya...> wrote: > Hi, > Thanks for the solution for the question posted by me > earlier on. > I got another new question. Hi, Thanks for the solution for the question posted by me earlier on. I got another new question. For the bar chart, can i display different color for different data member? That is a normal bar chart(not a clustered one) will actually have different color for different data. Thank You! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Outputting charts from JSP's is not a good practice. The problem you are seeing is there is some whitespace in your jsp which is getting written to the ServletOutputStream; so when you try to write binary data (ie your chart) the response has already been written to. To get around this, you will have to eliminate all empty spaces and lines between your <% and %>, and make sure there are no empty lines or spaces at the beginning and end of the file too. --- Malleswara Reddy B <bnm...@ya...> wrote: > the following is the code I have written > > <%@ page > import="java.awt.*,java.io.*,org.jCharts.*,org.jCharts.nonAxisChart.PieChart2D,org.jCharts.chartData.*,org.jCharts.properties.*,org.jCharts.types.ChartType,org.jCharts.axisChart.*,org.jCharts.test.TestDataGenerator,org.jCharts.encoders.JPEGEncoder13,org.jCharts.properties.util.ChartFont, > > org.jCharts.encoders.*"%> > > > > <%! > > PieChart2DProperties properties= new PieChart2DProperties(); > > LegendProperties legendProperties=new LegendProperties(); > > ChartProperties chartProperties = new ChartProperties(); > > int width = 550; > > int height = 350; > > > > > > legendProperties.setNumColumns( 2 ); > > legendProperties.setPlacement( LegendProperties.LEFT ); > > chartProperties > > try > > { > > PieChart2D pieChart2D = new PieChart2D( getData(), legendProperties, this.chartProperties, > width, height ); > > ServletEncoderHelper.encodeJPEG13( pieChart2D, 1.0f, response ); > > } > > catch( Throwable throwable ) > > { > > //HACK do your error handling here... > > throwable.printStackTrace(); > > } > > > > %> > > <%! > > private PieChartDataSet getData() throws ChartDataException > > { > > double[] data = new double[]{40, 15, 35, 65, 59}; > > Paint[] paints = new Paint[]{Color.blue, Color.red, Color.green, Color.yellow, Color.white}; > > String[] labels = {"Maruti", "Opel", "santro", "indica", "premier"}; > > return new PieChartDataSet( "Cars That Own!", data, labels, paints, this.properties ); > > } > > %> > > > > > Vikram Rajan <Vi...@PL...> wrote: > Can you give us some code sample to understand the problem better?
