I like JCDSee very much. I think it is the best viewer out there. The
JAVA solution seems suiting to me, as it makes this nice
programm platform independent. However, there are a few
suggestions I have to make:

There should be a documentation within the programm.
Something like help which gives you the first hints when you are
new to it.

Then I found a few smaller things:

If you select thumbnail preview the program should start listing
the filenames before loading the pictures. This would give you a
better overview about how many files will be loaded.

The keys should be much more like ACDSee, e.g. page
up/down should let you zapp through the pictures.

If you are interested, I would like to help, with the documentation
for example, but I might be able to do a little bit programming
stuff. Well done anyway!!!
