Rendering vector graphics would definitely be an interesting feature for me concerning the portal. 

From my knowlegde of laszlo, is that they are currently targetting the flash format - streaming out binary content from a servlet. I'm not sure, but wouldn't it be possible to wrap the stream with PortletContext.getNamedDispatcher and set the portlet's response type to swf?
