MyFaces shouldn't be initialized twice.  I know there is code in there to check for that, but maybe it isn't working correctly.

For the error page, can you add that as a feature request in MyFaces jira?  

Actually, you can add any issues here.  I'll be looking into any portlet-related ones personally.
