User interface never completely rendered

Installed and ran the JBidWatcher-1.0.exe Windows
executable.
The splash screen / progress bar runs normally, but the
UI window is never completely displayed/rendered. The
jbidwatcher frame opens, and the figures in the 'Time
Left' column are displayed. Outstanding auction
display one-by-one at four second intervals and some
other elements appear over the course of 60 or more
seconds but none of the tabs or buttons appear, then
the UI appears to freeze.
The logfile is attached.

Greetings,
This could be many things... Unfortunately, the most likely
(at least to cause those log messages) is that one of the
items you are monitoring has an oddly encoded image, and
JBidwatcher is trying to resize the thumbnail for it, and
failing.
In googling around, one suggestion I've heard is that Java
1.5 is better at handling the more unusual formats. If
you're not using it already, I suggest upgrading your Java
runtime to the J2RE 1.5 version. You can get it at:
http://www.java.com/getjava
Give that a try, and please do follow-up and let me know if
that worked for you, or if you already were using it.
I'm presuming, of course, that the exception info in the log
is related to the actual problem. I've never heard of
JBidwatcher behaving like that, though, so I'm hoping it is...

Followed your advice and updated Java to 1.5 with no
noticeable improvement. After further investigation I found
that the completed listings were 'sticking' at a particular
item (190027913167).
This did not occur with JBW 1.0pre6.
Deleting 190027913167 from list eliminates the symptoms in
rel 1.0
Adding it to the list causes symptoms to re-appear in rel 1.0

Rendering related, changing the background colour usually (but not always) only updates the background on every
other line for me. The window has to be maximized once for the colour to take on the others. Minor nuisance, but
has been like for all version I've used. Note I'm running the Windows .exe.
Another small nuisance, restoring the window by clicking on the Notification area icon doesn't bring it to the
foreground - if you fullsize windows open, then you can get it to the front (selecting it in the taskbar only
minimizes it back to Notifications).
