No eBay.co.uk Log In ?
Hi all,
A previously good install of JBidwatcher no longer will log on to eBay.co.uk since this morning (21st April 07)
Any body else suffering the same problem?
I have looked aon ebay.co.uk announcements where they state the did a system upgrade the day before, but no description of reason.......
I have tried logging into a handfull of other portal sites eBay.com, .fr .au etc, all are like .uk and say your user name / password are rejected. Log In to my eBay via browser is OK and doesn't appear any different to the old screen.
Error log from JBidwatcher 1.0 :-
"Sat Apr 21 10:08:23 BST 2007: Your sign in information is not valid."
Also down loaded JBidwatcher 1.0.1 :-
"Sat Apr 21 13:29:17 BST 2007: eBay's security monitoring has been triggered, and temporarily requires human intervention to log in.
Sat Apr 21 13:29:17 BST 2007: Couldn't sign in, captcha interference!
Failed eBay security check/captcha; verification code required.

I have occasionally seen the verification code screen before while browsing, but JBidwatcher never had a problem login in before now.
Here's hoping.......

Logged In: NO
Also noticed that after the unsuccessfull login of JBidwatcher, when I log in via the browser it is the plain login to my eBay page that now fails every time, the second page has the CAPTCHA verification screen.
RTFM !
I Think I can answer my own question...
From a Past posting from Morgan (Cyberfox) :-
[ 1602865 ] Unable to snipe due to change in Ebay login
"Greetings,
Firstly, no JBidwatcher can't get past the verification code,
unfortunately. It's called a CAPTCHA. It stands for 'Completely Automated
Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart', and it works pretty
well.
------------------------------
Really the only answer for making the CAPTCHA go away right now is to stop
using JBidwatcher for a little while. JBidwatcher *cannot* bypass the
CAPTCHA, because that's what the CAPTCHA is designed to do."
JBidwatcher is too much of a good thing to run for any length of time,
I wouldn't mind restarting JBidwatcher every so often to enable the eBay 'keep me logged in for 1 day on this computer' if any CAPTCHA verification screen could be redirected to a browser window.
Or how about something really flash !
scripted to listen to verification code, a voice to text reader. And then resubmit the login with CAPTCHA verification if required.
A too powerful tool in the wrong hands me think's............
Alan.
