Glenn,
I have been using Jazzware on my laptop with WinXP for over a year. It
works fine. I use it with Win2000 on one of my desktops and I used it with
Win98 for years. It is still the easiest, least complicated and most
reliable way for me to edit my midis.
I don't know how you use the program but I lay out my basic sequences in
Band in Box or Band Minus One. Sometimes I start from scratch in Jazz. I
edit it in Jazz where I add in sampled drums and midi keyboard played in
realtime, eliminating midi tracks as I go. If I want to make the sequence
sound phenomenal I use one of the tracks to record live bass.
I mix this down by recording to Cool Edit or any of the freeware WAV
Editors downloadable from the internet. I rip the WAV to MP3 at 128 or 160kb
using Right Click (another freeware program}. The mp3 is then downloaded to
my Ipod which is what I use in my performances. That's right; no midi's in
live performance, although I keep them in my keyboard for backup.
Glenn, I am no dilettante. I live on an island in the Caribbean where I
work at least six nights a week and often seven nights. I play guitar and
sing with the sequences. The combination of real time keyboard, an excellent
sampled drum kit downloaded free from Akai, and live bass makes an
unbelievable difference in a live performance.
Jazz++ is a wonderful tool that has made a lot of money for me over the
years. XP works fine with it.

Hi
I have been using the Jazz sequencer for a while now and wanted to = upgrade
to the latest version. I have windows XP and unfortunately, your = program
Jazz++ is not compatible with Windows XP.
I just wondered if you knew about this as I have not read any reports on =
it. It works perfectly with Windows 95 but would like to put it on my =
laptop which runs Windows XP.
Regards in hope.

I used Jazz++ exclusively for a long time, and I like it especially for its
harmony browser. Eventually the Jazz++ project lost momentum, the WxWin
toolkit upgrades required a rewrite of the Jazz++ code, and the project has
very little support at this time. Myself, I've moved onto Rosegarden, which
is an active project. I don't believe Rosegarden runs on Windows, but
that's OK for me as I run Linux. Do you have enough disk space on your
laptop to install Win95 too, and make the unit a dual-boot machine? You
could even install Linux, and make it a triple-boot machine.
Best of luck to you....
