I just now checked and found out that jazz++ is going through a revival. I'm one of the customers for the original Linux distribution back in the previous millenium. For me Jazz++ was the only usable MIDI sequencing app for Linux. All others that I tried didn't use the MIDI file format as the native format, rather they "imported" MIDI, and for the application I used that meant they threw away or munged SysEx data that was critical to getting my Yamaha CS1x configured and sequencing correctly. Every single Yamaha "Blue Book" demo MIDI file (they're fairly complex) ran via jazz++, and that just wasn't the case for any other Linux sequencing software. Also Jazz++ could run on my meagure AMD 300MHz system. More recent Linux sequencers have massive binary sizes, huge memory and CPU requirements and bog down to the point where even the simplest playback cannot occur, let alone real sequence creation and playback. Anyways, "well done" to the team reviving the best MIDI sequencer I ever found for Linux. Stacey p.s.
