Hi,
I am a new Jaxodraw user on MacOS.
First of all, .dmg version of the Jaxodraw that is served on the web site isn’t working. So, I am using the binary installed format of .jar file.
Second, I am trying to include some syntaxes like \bar{t} and \tilde{t} into my diagram, but it isn’t working too.
Could you help me on these issues? Especially the second one has urgency.
Bests,
Mesut |

Hi Mesut, The current dmg not working has been reported before [1] but we currently don't have thee resources to check/fix it. For your latex issue: are you entering the text in latex mode (not in postscript mode)? It should work, see http://jaxodraw.sourceforge.net/UsrGuide/usage.html#Text Otherwise please be more specific about the problem description, only 'it isn't working' is hard to diagnose... ;) Cheers, -Lukas [1] http://sourceforge.net/p/jaxodraw/mailman/message/33259900/ Am 10.06.2015 um 14:44 schrieb Mesut Unal: > Hi, > > I am a new Jaxodraw user on MacOS. > > First of all, .dmg version of the Jaxodraw that is served on the web site isn’t working. Hi,
Sorry for being vague :) To be more specific, I entered “\bar{t}” and “\tilde{t}” into both “draw a text string” and “Draw a LateX tex” buttons of the toolbar. I included the screenshots of the results for both of them to this mail. For “draw a text string” tool (text.png), it gives an empty square just in front of the letter t. “Draw a LateX tex” tool gives me an image of TeX as can be seen in the image (latex.png).
Thanks,
Mesut

Hi, See http://jaxodraw.sourceforge.net/faq.html#text-in-PS http://jaxodraw.sourceforge.net/UsrGuide/usage.html#Text The latex text is only processed when you use the corresponding latex export option 'Latex -> EPS' or the 'Latex preview' button. Hi, Thanks Lukas. Yet, I think the problem is due to axodraw4j.sty. I have already put it in /Library/texmf folder but when I try to compile the tex file of the exported diagram, it says that it cannot find axodraw4j. So I also put it under the folder “/usr/local/texlive/2014/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base”, but still it gives the same error. I cannot find a solution for it. Could you explain how to add axodraw4j more explicitly if it is the problem? Hi again,
Sorry for sending multiple messages but I solved the issue with texhash command. But when I compile the exported tex file, it just gives the string “bart” for \bar{t}. When I use the export->latex->preview, it just shows me what is inside the tex file. When I preview the jpeg or pdf, which are what I need actually, in addition to the lines of histograms, it gives a letter t with a small square at the left of it. Like the image I sent before.
Cheers,
Mesut

you need to use export - Latex-> EPS -> Preview then you have to make sure you have all the required latex packages installed, best is to export the latex file into a text file and try to process it on the command line or some other program you use for latex. If this works, then JD should work too... See also http://jaxodraw.sourceforge.net/faq.html#latex-eps-export good luck! -Lukas Am 11.06.2015 um 14:17 schrieb Mesut Unal: > Hi again, > > Sorry for sending multiple messages but I solved the issue with texhash > command. Dear Lukas,
Now I understand the structure more. I included the latex command as you said into latex file. In this case \bar{t} is shown as expected, but lines are not shown.
I am including the trial latex code, pdf output and the output of TeXShop after compilation. If you can have look at it, it would be appreciated.
Best,
Mesut

1. The Library directory is wrong. You should use
~/Library/texmf/tex/latex otherwise latex won't find it. (Here
~/Library means the Library subdirectory of your home directory.)
Better is to use ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/axodraw4j You'll need to
create any missing component directories.
2. If you use “/usr/local/texlive/2014/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base”,
you'll need to recreate TeXLive's filename database, before the file
will be found. See below for how to do this
3. But “/usr/local/texlive/2014/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base” is not a good
choice, because it's for texlive's standard installation. The
appropriate directory for user-installed additions is under
"/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/latex". I would use
"/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/latex/axodraw4j". In this case, you
will still need to recreate TeXLive's filename database.
Recreating TeXLive's filename database: As an administrative user, from
the Terminal run
sudo mktexlsr
Let us know if this works.

Hi, Unfortunately none of them works for me. Could you tell me what should I write in the fields: Preferred text editor: preferred postscript viewer: Latex path: dvips path: When I change them it says that the *.app cannot be found in the export menu. And just to be sure the: Directory of jaxodraw matters? I mean does it make any difference to install it to desktop or the folder that contains TeXShop? Hi Mesut,
The problem with the compilation of your example is that you used
pdflatex. To correctly compile the file it is essential to use latex.
Then you can convert to pdf by using dvipdf, or to postscript by dvips.
I have checked that this works on your example file Untitled.tex.
(By the way, the output of your compilation shows that you have
successfully put axodraw4j.sty in a correct place.)
