    I have the same problem. I looked in the source code and there, only a
    ClassNotFoundException is catched, so the NoClassDefFoundError
    goes through.
    Could this be a version incompatibility? I use Java1.4,
    perhaps the Exception behaviour has changed a little bit... Don't have
    1.3, so I can't check it.

    The same for me! (Win98, JDK1.3.1_02)

    In a former version I had luck with commenting out some mac
    specific stuff in Jaxe.java and in JaxeDocument.java.
    Search for: if(System.getProperty("os.name").startsWith("Mac
    OS")) {

    And: I can't compile the CVS version, because of a
    "can't resolve symbol: method adoptNode" error in
    JaxeDocument.java.

    The bug "NoClassDefFoundError" was fixed with the 1.1 version.

    The method "adoptNode" is DOM experimental and you can find it in the
    xerces.jar wich goes with Jaxe package.
