Rudi, I hope I'm not beginning to annoy you with apparent complaints a=
nd=20
lack of appreciation for your insight as you implement your direction. I a=
gree=20
for the strict utility/purpose of the folderlist (managing). Without the=
=20
collapsing facility, it will be very easy to manage small groups of folders=
. I=20
look forward to you experimenting with 10,000 messages as you said you woul=
d. =20
Without the ability to collapse, you won't be able to manage the 10,000=20
messages.
With the collapse ability, you could quickly sort them in a folder cal=
led=20
processing and a folder called archive. There many directions the tree can=
go=20
(branch off into). However, it is easy to loose track when the application=
=20
always try to display everything on the system.
Since I prefer using Jawmail at this time over Outlook, I moved most o=
f my=20
archived folders into another users' account. I log into Microsoft Outlook=
and=20
use their Imap option to browse and sort that archive.
By the way, the 10,000 messages I refer to is the current messages. T=
he=20
messages are archived by the year. I would have been glad to leave them ou=
t=20
for a number of years. But the the current folder configuration would chok=
e.
I find it very convenient to search my messages at times, to remind me=
of=20
lost addresses, phone numbers, dates, old schedules, old contacts. 5 years=
=20
from now, I may research my email archive to learn some of the current=20
discussion I'm having with you, about how to fix some of the problems we=20
discussed.
It would be easy to implement a routine to search all the files (in th=
e=20
background) then display folders (or emails) containing the search strings.=
It=20
looses some potential when I can't put all the folders in my personal IMAP=
=20
directory hierarchy.
I won't drag the issue further. I just wanted to make sure you had=20
considered all the angles and purpose.
