Bay, David, Vivek, Thank you for your interest in JavaWeather!! I didn't expect to get several people asking how they could help so quickly. Aside from being very busy with other stuff this past month, I've taken some time to try to organize the project better (with the code, using sourceforge more, and just general organization and direction), and I hope how you can help will become more clear. To learn more about what we are doing, I'd first suggest you check out the new web site at http://javaweather.sourceforge.net/. The todo section is of special interest. I've written up several tasks that need to be done here, and for the Perl script conversion and METAR decoding tasks, I made extra pages with some guidelines and more info on what needs to be done. I'm going to continue linking between the web site and sourceforge resources more, so I hope this becomes a useful and current resource. Frank Chiron has taken a first step towards converting the Perl scripts to Java that I mentioned in the job posting, but there's still plenty to be done. I'd encourage you to join the mailing lists on sourceforge if you're so inclined (I'm hoping we can start using the developer mailing list soon to archive project tasks). Please feel free to reply to me or to the group about what if any you'd like to do. Again, I really appreciate any of your time and code, and apologize for not having more time to work on things. I expect that for the foreseeable future, I'll probably be mostly managing the project by organizing code submissions, updating the web site, and otherwise trying to keep things moving forward. I'm also going to make some announcements on freshmeat and some other places once I have the latest build uploaded and marked in sourceforge as a release. Thanks again!
