I have already adressed that problem and I made a DB-SCAN algorithm that run atop the xml results in order to find bigger clusters as i may have as input more than 200 files but still the parameters that i should give to both SOM and DB-SCAN is a problem. I think we can solve it with genetic programming. After i migrated to Java 1.5 the results would be really bad. I would have only one cluster but it seems that JSOM 1.2 will address the problem. Anyway i should say a big thanks to you for your great work. You can see a sample of our work at http://195.251.235.67:8080/thesus But the clustring and quering modules are not working for the moment ____________________________________________________________________ http://www.freemail.gr - δωρεάν υπηρεσία ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου. http://www.freemail.gr - free email service for the Greek-speaking. |

Hi I am so sorry for not noticing your message, but until now. :( The follow error results exactly in the missing (actually not found) instructions.dtd file. In the new 1.2 package there is an instructions.xml file. which contains an embbedded version of the dtd inside that file so it would not be a problem anymore as javasom verifies the xml to conform dtd. --clip clip -- Hi i am back again with the exact exception message i get: java.lang.NullPointerException at fi.javasom.jsom.JobInstructionsHandler$NormalizationHandler.startElement(JobInstructionsHandler.java:273) at fi.javasom.jsom.JobInstructionsHandler.startElement(JobInstructionsHandler.java:135) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.AbstractSAXParser.startElement(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.AbstractXMLDocumentParser.emptyElement(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLNamespaceBinder.handleStartElement(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLNamespaceBinder.emptyElement(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLDocumentFragmentScannerImpl.scanStartElement(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLDocumentFragmentScannerImpl$FragmentContentDispatcher.dispatch(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLDocumentFragmentScannerImpl.scanDocument(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.DTDConfiguration.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.DTDConfiguration.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.XMLParser.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.AbstractSAXParser.parse(Unknown Source) at fi.javasom.jsom.JSom.<init>(JSom.java:79) at dbnet.thesus.clustering.ClusteringService.run(ClusteringService.java:243) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534) -- Tomi Suuronen |

Hi everyone, I am working on a project called thesus at DB-NET lab [ http://www.db-net.aueb.gr ] and i am looking forward to deploy JavaSOM inside a servlet. I have done everything and everything compiles well but JavaSOM does not give my any results. I suspect the problem is the lack of instructions.dtd somewhere in exeecution environment. I guess it wont work if i copy it inside the classes of the algorithm and i think the default execution paht of Tomcat is C:\windows\ or smth like that. Has anyone encountered any similar problems. By a quick inspection of the code i found nowhere the reading of instructions.dtd so i guess some of the jars needed. It is for sure needed i think cos when i removed it from the directory where the JavaSOM example was then the latter did not work. Thanks in advance ____________________________________________________________________ http://www.freemail.gr - δωρεάν υπηρεσία ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου. http://www.freemail.gr - free email service for the Greek-speaking. |

I have just been running the examples provided with the download and loaded the instructions XML into XMLSpy which identified a couple of issues #1 In the instructions.dtd a spelling error in the first occurance of neighbourhood (missing u) #2 in the fragment below <initialization> <normalization used="true"/> <x.dimension>14</x.dimension> <y.dimension>14</y.dimension> <lattice type="hexagonal"/> <neighbourhood type="linear"/> </initialization> the neighbourhood type is set to linear whilst the DTD only allows gaussian or step Regards Stuart -- Stuart M.
