Two of us are seeing the same Firefox crashes, repeatably.  Are we doing something wrong, or is there a problem with the plug-in, perhaps?  Thanks,

      - Bill

    Config info:
    - MacOS 10.3.6, up-to-date
    - Firefox 1.0 - About says - "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC MacOS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.75) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0"
    - Java Embedding Plugin 0.8.6

    Details:
    - we're trying to view Freemind mind maps like the one at http://freemind.sourceforge.net/PublicMaps.html .  The applet loads, the map display, but when we click on anything Firefox crashes
    - same applet, same map works fine in Safari
    - the Freemind applet requires Java 1.4, so we can't test in Firefox without the plugin
    - the text in ~/Library/Logs/Java Console.log, just after such a crash event, is just the text below

MRJ Plugin for Mac OS X v1.0.1
[starting up Java Applet Security @ Sun Nov 14 17:21:53 CST 2004]

    Proxy Configuration: No proxy

I can reproduce what you report, but only with Firefox 1.0 -- not with
      Firefox 1.0PR, Mozilla 1.7.3 or Camino 0.8.1.

The problem is caused by a bug/design-flaw in Firefox 1.0.  I've filed
my own report on it in the JEP's Bugs tracker ("[ 1063222 ] Firefox
      1.0 crashes doing LiveConnect"):

      http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1063222&group_id=107955&atid=649116

As I say there, I've already got a workaround for this, which I hope
to release real soon as part of JEP 0.8.7.  I'd have done this sooner
... but I keep getting hit by last minute problems every time I think
I'm all set to do a release :-)
