Finder tool: request to change uid to -1 gid to 20 for /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin: can't map file: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/MRJPlugin.plugin ((os/kern) invalid argument)
### MRJPlugin: getPluginBundle() here. ###
### MRJPlugin: CFBundleGetBundleWithIdentifier() succeeded. ###
### MRJPlugin: CFURLGetFSRef() succeeded. ###
So I changed the owner to root and the group to admin for all the files. Now upon relaunching Firefox, the first line is gone, but the can't map file business remains. What does this mean?

I haven't seen the "finder tool" message before ... but you seem to
have found a solution for it. (By the way, it's the "staff" group
that has a gid of 20, but I've no idea what user has a uid of -1.)
The "can't map file" message is completely benign, and can be ignored.
I see it myself all the time, sometimes referring to the MRJ Plugin
and sometimes to the Flash plugin. It's presumably caused by some
kind of bug in the Mozilla-family browsers. The string "can't map
file" brings up a number of items in Bugzilla, including the
following, which seems to be the "master" record, to which the others
get duped:
