I'm using a Java applet called U-Upload Cart and it works fine in Safari, but fails to launch in Firefox 2.0.0.2. This issue is only happening on Intel Macs. I've been sure to remove any of the versions of JEP that shipped with Firefox and replaced them with 0.9.6, but still no joy.
Has anyone had any luck in getting Java applets to work in Firefox with 0.9.6 on an Intel Mac. I'm running OS X 10.4.8 and all the most recent patches from Apple.
Any info is appreciated.

It'd help if you explained (in detail) what you mean by "fails to
launch". You should also give at least one URL of a publicly
accessible site where you've encountered this problem.
I have an Intel Mac, and (of course) I've tested on it quite a bit.
I'm unaware of any problems that are specific to Intel Macs in JEP
0.9.6.

Sorry, what I mean by that is that I get redirected to the default Mac Error Page that U-Upload includes with their product. That's what happens with JEP 0.9.6.
I'm able to reproduce what you report (more or less). But the problem
has nothing to do with the Java Embedding Plugin -- it happens before
any part of it gets loaded. It could conceivably be a browser
problem. But I think it's much more likely to be a problem with the
HTML code that you and Unlimi-tech are using to launch the applet(s).
Like you, I don't have any trouble with either of your URLs using
Firefox 2.0.0.2 on a PPC Mac. But I do have trouble using recent
versions of Firefox, Camino and SeaMonkey on an Intel Mac. It made no
difference which Java version I used (Java 5.0 or 1.4.2), on either
the Intel Mac or the PPC Mac. Both Macs are running OS X 10.4.8,
fully updated.
On Unlimi-tech's site I got an error (on my Intel Mac) from the server
(404 Not Found) telling me that "the requested URL
/products/uupload/webdemo/cart/errNavMac.html was not found on this
server". On your test site I got an error page telling me to install
the "MRJ Plug-in for Netscape". Presumably Unlimi-tech's site would
have displayed this same message if the server could have found it.

Here are 2 URLs to try:
1. http://unlimi-tech.com/products/uupload/webdemo/cart/ This is the U-Upload demo site
2. http://www.paulaturgeon.com/uploadtest This is a test site that I set up.
Let me know if there is anything further I can provide. I've attempted to provide Java console info, but the applet doesn't even attempt to launch.
Thanks in advance.
