Hi Shyam, You are already consulting the mentors. :) I would expect the commitment to be 20-30 hours per week, depending on the complexity of the project and how efficient and productive you are. We have one student who has a good start at an application for the java.util.concurrent project. For the distributed application project, it would be helpful to have experience or familiarity with Java network programming. I think you are the first person to inquire about the object interface layer - this could be an interesting one. I believe this would be making extension to the interface into the VM that is used by listeners. I believe Peter Mehlitz suggested that project, although he would not necessarily be the mentor. Peter, what/where is the interface for interacting with the standard/built-in types that Shyam could look at? I can't find it again.
