A large chunk of JJC is being re-written at the moment (mainly the whole thing).
However it's a good idea, since the Java Swing GUI dosen't look that nice and a skined version would be mucher nicer.

I could do, but I think that writing a generic Skinning egine for Java would be useful for a lot of other projects. SJW looks nice, but it isn't easily portable. Nice idea though.

Is it possible to make JavaJabberC to have skins, like WinAMP? Even the ability to change between swing l&f's would be nice.

Have you thought about using SWT instead of Swing for the GUIs? It currently runs on Windows and Linux.. and I think MacOS support is coming soon, see http://www.theserverside.com/resources/article.jsp?l=JavaOneDayFour.
