I am not quite sure what you are asking. Images created with cpaldjvu are already supported by the applet. The background chunk in such documents is negligible, so ignore it won't make the decoding significantly faster.
However, you could replace IWPixmap.java with a dummy codec that simply returned an uninitialized pixmap.
