Two years ago, I have started the ResMedicinae project for medical software which you may find at: http://www.resmedicinae.org (and here, on SF). We have nearly 100 medical doctors in our (German-speaking) mailing list and many of them wished a pure, old-fashioned, fast textual display.
Well, due to my very limited time, I started with the graphical ui stuff anyway, for the first, but plan to implement textual uis, too - in the next years. I guess our project will need a very long time to get useable...
So, perhaps this encourages you a little and helps you to enjoy your work which is great!
