Are there any plans for a new release soon?
There are lots of bugs which are fixed in gcj since the release of JNC 1.1.1

No, I'm afraid that I will no longer maintain JNC. The reason for this 
is that I have the impression that GCJ is dead since OpenJDK was 
started. So there's no point in keeping JNC alive if the backend is dead...
