Did you get an answer? Do you know how to do it now? I have the same book, and I'm trying to do the same as you.

I'm afraid in order to use USB you will need to find a driver that exposes the Bluetooth Chip as a UART using the H4 Transport Protocol. There's no driver like that available right now. So you're stuck with Serial Dongels, CF cards and PCMCIA Cards. Fell free to write a USB Driver though.

I always get this error message:
Failed to retrieve the local device(Unable to load HCIManager. org.javabluetooth.stack.hci.HCIException: BluetoothStack not initalized. )

DeviceExplorer.exe and what that does is transfers data to and from my pc and t630 phone.
it uses a USB Dongle and im on Windows XP, how can this happen? Im using the WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software 1.4.2 build 10.
