Sorry to chime in late here (I just signed up to the developer list
yesterday) but an rpm for FC3 already has that fix and it's in my java-
gnome repo:

The original upstream bug was:

I should apologize for not putting this in Tom Fitzsimmons' repo - I
guess I forgot. I will co-ordinate a transfer to his repo today. 

BTW, good work tracking this down, as I recall it was a little bit
tricky :)
