As for being "pro-GCJ", here goes my opinion (which is not necessarily the opinion of the JG team): I want the free VMs to be as good as the proprietary ones, i really do. And because i want that a lot, i wanna help to make that happen, i don't want to just sit and wait. But how can i help? Well, if i would contribute with code to the free VMs that would be perfect, that would be a great contribution. But i don't think i'm that good hacker and i'm not very interested in digging into the code of the VMs - so i take another path: i help to test and give the GCJ/Kaffe team some feedback by actually _using_ their VMs. (Is there anything more fulfilling in free software development than to see people actually using the software you made and giving feedback?) Plus, by testing our code in the free VMs we garantee JG will always run in the free VMs, which is important if you want JG to get into the distros and succeed as a viable free development platform.
