I performed further tests and discovered that the problem is purely caused by
the glade file, which contains a Gnome application window (very simple).  My
code works with Example1's glade file, and Example1 crashes with this
kaput.glade file.  So there is something in this glade file that is not
handled properly.

kaput.glade is attached.  To reproduce, run Example1 loading this glade file.
