Hi,

If you change the Makefile.in.in files, you have to run
./genMakefile.in. These generate Makefile.in files, which are then
turned into makefiles by configure
 
Similarly for configure.in.in -  you need to run ./genconfigure and then
autoconf to get the configure script

Please send us any changes you make - the build scripts could do with a
lot of tlc. If you know about autoconf, please let me know - there are a
few specific things we would like doing to the configure scripts.
