I don't see this as such a problem.  Most people who want the development
release (2.5.x) will already be aware of the fact that the 5 means it
is a development stream working toward 2.6.  Perhaps we can go out of our
way on the website to make this obvious.  Users that get the 2.4.x version 
will only be interested in having the latest stable java-gnome release.

Since there will be a stable release each 6 months I am not concerned
with getting ahead of the upstreams.  My concern is getting behind but
I guess we have committed to staying current with the upstream when we
decided to be a part of the bindings release.  As far as the 2.x.y 
my view on the 'y' is stated in the previous paragraph.
