As an aside,

It would be lovely if people using distros other than Gentoo or Debian
could figure out what prerequisite [devel] packages need to be installed
in order to build against libnotify and gtksourceview.

Then we can probe for them in configure and thereby advise people who
don't have those devel packages what they need to install in order to be
able to build java-gnome.
