[Java-gnome-developer] Dockable panels like in Monodevelop

Does anyone know how the dockable panels (similar to Visual Studio/Eclipse)
are done in MonoDevelop?

Did they do it using standard GTK+ API or developed some specific Mono-only
extensions? Is there any way to accomplish something similar using
java-gnome?
