The project will compile cleanly (although I still do not have "make clean" updated). In order to build the project you will need ant. If you don't already have it installed you can get it here: http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-ant/release/v1.5/bin/ You just need to put the <install-dir>/bin directory in you path. I have added a couple of methods to Gtk.java, Widget.java and Window.java in order to get an example working. These classes are far from complete. I just wanted to get something working since there has been so many changes. I updated the examples/gtk/base example. The bad news is that I am getting an error reported from the natives that is causing a crash. Hopefully I will be able to find this problem and fix it today. Once I get this working my plans are to complete the three classes mentioned above. I then hope to write this paper I keep talking about and working with each of you to help you get fully productive. Below I also list a couple of TODOs that I would like to incorporate into the project at some time in the near future. If either of you want to take one of these TODOs please feel free. TODOs: 1) Implement a testing framework. At my work we have implemented a test-first approach to our software development using the JUnit automated testing tool. We have seen remarkable improvement in the quality of our software since we incorporated this approach. I also have worked quite a bit on the SWT project and they have a similar approach using JUnit. If either of you have experience with this tool and want to take this task please go ahead. Otherwise I will probably do this next week. 2) Maintain UML diagrams. Many developers like to see diagrams as it helps with their understanding. I have a beginning of these diagrams in cvs. I would like to find somebody that has a passion for UML that wishes to take this task. I would envision a page (or possibly several pages) on the website that would have images of these models. One other thing I want to do is find somebody to take over the maintenance of the website. I have done a very poor job at this and don't have the time to make it any better. I will probably post out to the developers list later today asking for help with the website and UML diagrams. -Jeff |

Hi all, I'm back home from uni for Christmas, so have a little more time to work on Java-Gnome. Unfortunately, I've also got lots of other stuff to work on, so my time is very limited. What's the current status of the the project? I seem to remember someone saying that a 0.8.0 release might be possible by late November - how close are we to this? I've been trying the code over the last few days, but unfortunately have failed on all occasions - On all events, I get exceptions called from org.gnu.gdk.EventButton.getX(Native Method). Is this a known problem? is it likely to be fixed in the next few days? I would prefer to spend the next few weeks working on mostly bug hunting and also developing some small apps which could be used as examples, but would also be very useful programs (for me at least). If anyone has anything specific they would like me to work on, please let me know. I will also look into the pixmaps in trees problem. -- .''`. Sorry I seem to be missing for the past week or so. I have been incredibly busy at work (12+ hour days) and busy on the home front (building a deck on my house, building a swing set for my kids, building a bar for a neighbor, etc...). On June 7th we need to deliver our 2.7.2 release. Between now and then I hope to work on most of the bugs listed on sourceforge, get a working prototype of the bonobo bindings, and work with you on gtkhtml, gnomevfs, vte, etc. There doesn't seem to be much going on in libgnome and libgnomeui so there shouldn't be much work there. -Jeff |

I seem to be missing too since I have my last month exams run :) The next being on 25th of June. However I hope to add something useful to the gnomevfs bindings before June 7th. -- Luca De Rugeriis <pie...@fa...> |
